Small painting by Pelmo. Acrylic on ply. 16" x 14"
Inspired by watching Grayson Perry's Art Club I have realised I've been totally neglecting my duty as an artist to reflect the world around me and I want to rectify this.
No sooner had I come to this realisation as the universe presented me with a gift. On my Friday night pilgrimage to UNESCO World Heritage Site Candidate, Bedminster Asda I see local Bristol Bears Legend Max Lahiff picking up a few essentials.
Struck by the sight of the mighty buttresses of prime muscle that support his head I felt compelled to paint him. However I did not choose an anatomical study, although I may well do so later, for this first depiction I chose to place him naturally, in the setting that I found him.
